Choose the right camera source
Camera Studio brings three camera paths into one operator flow. Select the source that is connected, wait for the preview to become active, and run a test capture before the event starts.

Webcam note: broad compatibility, Snapdragon is the most stable
OurBooth does not restrict webcam brands. In principle, any USB webcam recognized by Android as UVC can be used; results still depend on the chipset, cable, USB power, resolution, and webcam firmware. In operational testing, Android devices with Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets generally provide more stable webcam preview and capture, especially during long sessions. Other chipsets may work as well, but test the exact device and cable you will use at the event.
Set up the built-in camera
1Open Settings → Camera Studio.
2Under Camera Source, choose Automatic or Built-in Camera.
3Allow Camera permission when prompted, then wait for Preview Active.
4Adjust Camera Rotation, Lens, Zoom, Exposure (EV), White Balance, Mirror Capture, and Screen Flash for the booth layout.
5Press Save Configuration, then run one test capture from the start screen until the photo appears on the result screen.
Set up a USB/UVC webcam
In general, any USB webcam that Android exposes as USB Video Class (UVC) can be used without a special driver. The brand is not the main requirement; the webcam must be detected, the cable must carry data, USB OTG must provide enough power, and the negotiated video format must remain stable.
1Connect the webcam to the tablet through a USB OTG adapter or cable. For long sessions or high-power webcams, use a powered USB hub.
2If Android asks for USB access, choose Allow. Open Camera Studio and select the detected webcam name under Camera Source.
3Wait for Connected or Preview Active. Start with a stable resolution instead of the highest available setting.
4If the connection negotiates USB 2.0, avoid forcing Full HD or 4K when the preview corrupts or the tablet restarts; use a USB 3 port and cable for higher preview resolutions.
5Run several test captures. If the preview stops, reopen Camera Studio, or unplug and reconnect the webcam and grant USB access again.
Use a short USB data cable that does not move or loosen.
Keep the tablet powered; OTG and a webcam can drain the battery.
Prefer a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset when long-session webcam preview stability is the priority.
Test the same device, webcam, cable, hub, and resolution that will be used at the event.
Set up a professional camera (DSLR or mirrorless)
OurBooth connects professional cameras over USB OTG using PTP/libgphoto2. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, and other PTP bodies may appear when they expose Live View and Config over USB. Support is determined by the camera model, firmware, USB mode, and Android host—not by the brand alone—so use the Compatible Cameras list in Camera Studio and always test the exact body you will use. Fujifilm is currently excluded from the Compatible Cameras filter, so do not consider it supported without separate verification.
1Use a full battery or dummy battery. Insert a ready memory card and connect the camera with a USB data cable and USB OTG adapter.
2Set the camera shooting mode to P, M, Av, or Tv. Enable Live View and use USB PC/Remote/PTP mode when available; File Transfer mode alone is not enough for camera control.
3Turn off camera Wi-Fi if wireless connectivity interferes with USB. Power on the camera, open Camera Studio, and select the detected body name.
4Wait for Preview Active. If the controls do not appear, wait until preview is active and press Refresh Settings. Some controls only appear when the camera shooting mode allows them.
5Set ISO, shutter speed, aperture, white balance, and image format from the PTP panel when the camera exposes those options. Locked options must be changed on the camera body.
6Run repeated test captures. Confirm focus, framing, output file, and the transition to the result screen before mounting the camera in the booth.
Flash, focus, and live view
If you use an external flash, enable External Flash in Camera Studio only after testing. On some DSLRs, Live View is turned off briefly so the hot shoe can fire the flash; this mode skips autofocus, so set focus manually or pre-focus on the guest position. Make sure the shutter is not Electronic/Silent if the flash does not fire. If a Canon live view is very dark when a flash is used, disable Exposure Simulation in the camera menu when that feature is available.
Quick troubleshooting
Camera not detected: check that the cable carries data, the OTG adapter is connected, the camera is on, USB access was allowed, and other camera-control apps are closed.
Blank or failed preview: unplug and reconnect the camera, reopen Camera Studio, select the source again, and wait for Preview Active.
Empty or read-only DSLR controls: make sure preview is active, select P/M/Av/Tv, use PC/Remote/PTP, and press Refresh Settings.
Webcam stutters or the tablet restarts: lower the resolution, avoid USB 2.0 for Full HD/4K, use a shorter cable or powered hub, and try Legacy pipeline only if Modern misbehaves.
Focus fails: add light, use Zone AF, or pre-focus/manual focus at the guest standing position.
Inconsistent color or exposure: lock white balance and exposure on the camera, then repeat the test after the booth lights and flash are in their final positions.
Final test before the event
Preview stays active for at least 30 seconds.
Three test captures succeed without reconnecting and appear on the result screen.
Framing, rotation, mirror, exposure, white balance, and focus match the event frame.
The external flash fires when used, or screen flash works for a flash-free setup.
The device stays powered and the cable is not pulled when the camera is mounted.
Run one dry run using the actual event frame and booth mode.
Professional cameras supported by OurBooth
For DSLR and mirrorless cameras, OurBooth uses the libgphoto2 database bundled with the app. Camera Studio only shows USB models whose driver reports remote image capture, Live View, and Config. The list below gives supported families and catalog examples; final compatibility must still be checked with the exact camera body and firmware.

Use the in-app list as the source of truth
Open Settings → Camera Studio → Professional Camera → Compatible Cameras. Production, Beta, and Experimental filters show the status of the bundled driver. A model that does not appear in this menu should not be considered supported even if its brand exists in libgphoto2. Fujifilm is currently excluded from the Compatible Cameras filter, so do not claim support without a separate verification.
